CARING FOR YOUR TATTOOS

FOLLOW YOUR AFTERCARE

Clear Bandage /Second Skin/Saniderm

1. Leave your second skin on for 24 hours!

2. If goop/liquid forms under your second skin that is normal, you don't need to take it off unless it is leaking!

3.Remove in the shower, the warm water helps loosen the adhesive and makes it easier to remove.

4.Take off early if your skin has a reaction to the adhesive or if liquid leaks out.

5. Your skin could be red and wrinkly after the adhesive is removed until your skin calms down, this is normal.

Traditional Bandage (& after removal of second skin)

Keep bandages on for 2-4 hrs. Please do not remove it prior to 2 hours. Wash your hands thoroughly before delicately removing the bandage. Wash and cleanse the tattoo, as well as the surrounding area with  warm water and a liquid anti-bacterial gentle cleanser or soft soap from a pump bottle. Use only your fingertips in a circular motion to remove all blood, ink, and remaining traces of liquids and ointments. DO NOT USE: washcloths, paper towels, loofahs, or anything abrasive after removing the remainder of the soap or cleanser. Then pat gently dry with a clean paper towel and let the area air dry for at least 5-10 minutes before applying any aftercare products. There are many products on the market for healing a tattoo including Aquaphor, coconut oil, aloe, or other brands of healing ointments or lotions. It is extremely important to not over saturate the area with any of the products. Apply a little product onto your tattoo using your finger(washed). Make sure that all lotions or ointment have been rubbed into a very thin layer and absorbed into the skin.

6. Your tattoo is an open wound so please keep your tattoo clean and repeat steps 4-6 until the tattoo is healed. DO NOT expose your tattoo to: soaking in a bath, rivers, pools, beaches, or any bodies of water. Don’t expose your fresh tattoo to direct sunlight, or have excessive sweating for the first week (at least). Soaking and sunlight should still be avoided until fully healed. If your tattoo flakes or has scabs, do not pick at it! Check in with your tattoo artist after a month or two when the tattoo is fully healed. You can get a free touch up within a year. Please send your artist a healed photo! They are much appreciated. For the long-term health of your tattoo, remember to always put on sunscreen!
